Well, I have kept a diary for 1 year and I shall do the same another. Kate and I were busy all the time packing up my things and getting everything ready for my start. It has snowed nearly all day. I said good-by and came away at 4:30 P.M., pa taking me to Dexter where I took the train and am now in Grand Rapids. I hated to leave home as badly as I ever did in my life, and then I shall be seperated from Kate so long. But I must keep up a stout heart and work for her as well as myself. I am in a lodging house for tonight.
