Took a competency math test. But it was cool ’cause we took it in homeroom and have that with Casey. Didn’t really get a chance to laugh. Me and Née went 2 Target and I got Becca some purple make-up. Went 2 Semolina’s 4 Bec’s birthday dinner. Cap and Em came, too. Showered. Homework. Talked 2 Ash.

Really good mood today. I must have been in a bad one yesterday ’cause I was P.M.S’n. Driver’s Ed. Mike was nicer today, but still not sure. Came home and studied till dinner. Went to writing class. Came home and studied till 11:00! Biology, ELP, and English all suck.

The Sal. Army came at 10:00 for papers rags etc. So glad to get rid of the mess. Got up about 5:30 went out front to rake, managed to finish before breakfast, looks some better. Wash towels used in between windows also other things left around all winter. Put our bedroom inserts in. Seemed good to have air. Very warm 80 degrees here higher in city.

Cloudy and mild. Went to library at 9:30 and got list of books for history. Mr. Carson called on me to read my list. No philosophy. Betty and I went to town at 11 — took our laundry and shopped. Back for lunch. Betty talked me into going to show but I kept pretending I wasn’t going right up to the end! We went to Uptown and saw Franchot Tone in “Phantom Lady.” Excellent picture. Out about 3. Got laundry. Back to hall. Washed clothes. Betty and Jane went to town. Neen came over. I started my report on Paradise Lost. On geography. I’m not a bit worried about it. To dinner at 6. At night Jane fixed Betty up with a new hair-do, pan-cake makeup and everything. She really looked glamorous. I finished my report about 10:30. Bond rally at 11 but Betty and I didn’t go. Took a bath and to bed. I hate myself. Honestly, I’m so sick of myself I could scream!!

Cloudy. Cooler. Dorothy S. and I are hostesses to book club meeting tonight. Each have to pay twenty-five cents. Test in typing. Made 83 (40-11). In office I read my travel book (National Parks of the Northwest) and tried hard to finish it but couldn’t. About 3:00 Mary phoned. Since Coach was in the office I stepped out in the hall to talk to her. She is working at the Webbo -- started today. Very easy. Funny -- I dreamed last night that she started to work. Had nice talk. Music lesson at 4:00. (P.S. Had class meeting this morning -- voted on school dance -- hope!) Sat out in back yard afterwards and finished travel book. Cloudy. Rained about suppertime. Wisteria smelled lovely. It hangs in festoons on the back porch landing. At 7:30 Book Worms met in school library. H. Harris reviewed a book on the Mississippi. Dot Swanson and I had charge of refreshments -- ice cream and ginger ale. Had plenty. G.L. and some of the boys nearly drove us crazy. G.L. put some cleanser in one glass. Out early. Went to Miss Dawes’s and called Mom to come after me.

Irvie McColl came down a few minutes before church this morning. I went to meeting and listened to some powerful remarks by Mr. Butler. Tried my automatic pen a little today, and made it go quite satisfactory. Kate has been having a headache. It is warmer weather and looks stormy tonight.

The baby slept well last night, but I was on the lounge ready to help Kate when wanted.  I stayed here the most of the forenoon also, as Kate did not feel as well as usual.  Went home about 10 o’clock and stayed there to dinner.  Made some ink out of the powder I brought from Benzonia.  Pa was digging out stumps in the garden today.  I came back this afternoon and have been helping Kate, she seems to feel better tonight than this morning.  Henry and Dor have gone out this evening.  Father Queal and I dug some sweet flag this afternoon in a pond on Phelp’s farm.  Have been writing a little this evening, but I am losing all skill with…

Aunt Patsey spent the day here. Betsey went home this evening. I have spun a little & reeled some after dinner. Atheline has nearly enough for her dresses. Mr. Henry & Matt intended to go to Asheville today but it rained. I wanted to send some things to Harrie but Mr. Linsey came over today & said he started today at 12 o’clock. I am sorry he did not get his things before he started. I wanted him to take some butter, brandy, candles & some soap but the soap was not done, at least it was not hard. Aunt Tena has been working at it yesterday & today.

I finished Willie another skirt & began the last one. We had a freshet Sunday night, took the dirt work of the dam. Two men staid here last Sunday night, came to the mill. They went on to Cathey’s. Lou did not come, neither did Louise McKinnish on Sunday night. I ask God’s blessings on my dear husband this night.

Up, and to the Office, where all the morning. At noon home to dinner, and Captain Deane with us; and very good discourse, and particularly about my getting a book for him to draw up his whole theory of shipping, which, at my desire, he hath gone far in, and hath shewn me what he hath done therein, to admiration. I did give him a Parallelogram, which he is mightily taken with; and so after dinner to the Office, where all the afternoon till night late, and then home. Vexed at my wife’s not being come home, she being gone again abroad with M. Batelier, and come not home till ten at night, which vexed me, so that I to bed, and lay in pain awake till past one, and then to sleep.
